Why do I need to do a cleanse?
Our air, food, beauty products, and household cleaners are dirty and toxic. Today we are exposed to more environmental toxins and pollutants than ever in history. Over time, these toxins build up in the body causing bloating, weight gain, mood swings, brain fog, fatigue, acne and a host of other aliments and chronic disease such as cancer. Our bodies try to combat toxins with our innate ability to detoxify, but with the overwhelming exposure to toxins our bodies becomes inundated and overwhelmed, which ultimately leads to the insufficient removal of toxins. Toxins first move to the liver, then to the bloodstream, and are ultimately stored in our fat cells where toxins can remain for a lifetime. This is why we desperately need to cleanse our bodies. When you eat whole, fresh foods, you allow your body the ability to digest and metabolize with ease and leave more energy for natural detoxification to take place.
What makes this cleanse different?
The KW Cleanse is very different from most ‘cleanses’. This is a whole food cleanse! This is not a fast, and this is not a juice cleanse. The majority of the quick-fix cleanses out there result in a loss of water weight, which end up leaving you hungry and cranky – not good. The KW Cleanse will be different. You will be enjoying an abundance of tasty, plant-based meals every day, without dehydrating yourself, and without depriving your body of significant nutrients.
What can I eat or drink on this cleanse?
- Nuts and nut butters
- Quinoa, rice and other gluten free grains
- Seeds (preferably raw and unsalted)
- Clean proteins (organic or wild fish, chicken, turkey, and lamb)
- Water or herbal and green tea
What can’t I eat and drink while on this cleanse?
- Alcohol, soda, coffee, and fruit juices
- All packaged and processed foods
- Refined sugars
- Wheat and gluten
- Meat products are suggested to be eliminated
Do I have to buy organic fruits and vegetables?
It is encouraged to eat organic foods during the cleanse. But, I believe it’s more important that you are actually eating fruits and vegetables, than being stressed out about eating organic ones. However, when you buy conventional produce, you can be sure there will be chemicals and pesticides on them, and some have more chemicals and pesticides than others. To see which fruits and vegetables contain the most pesticides, please review the EWG’s 2015 Shopper’s Guide so that you can decide what makes sense for you and your budget.
Can I exercise during the cleanse?
You can absolutely work out on this cleanse, and I encourage you to work out as you normally would.
What beverages can I drink?
During this cleanse you will be drinking a ton of water (preferably filtered) because hydration is a major component to successful detoxifying. While cleansing, I encourage you to stay hydrated with a minimum of 2 L of water daily. Staying hydrated alone can help cleanse your body of toxins, boost metabolism, clear your skin, and keep the lymphatic system flowing freely. Water is key, so drink up.

Will this be difficult?
The level of difficulty during this cleanse will vary depending on what your typical diet consists of now. If you lead a pretty healthy lifestyle, then this will be a breeze for you. After all, you will be eating plenty of whole foods, and you will not restrict your body of calories. However, if your current diet consists mainly of packaged and processed foods, then this will be more of challenge for you. Regardless of your current diet, I promise you will have plenty to eat and you will not be starving on this cleanse.
How will I stay motivated during this cleanse?
Every morning you will receive a motivational email from me to give you support and to remind you why you embarked on this journey in the first place. The workshops are a great way to stay focused and accountable! Remember that there is going to 100’s of people doing this together! Since accountability is such a huge part of sticking to goals, I thought it would be really fun to share pictures or comments about the cleanse on our Facebook page or tweet about your experience. We will show each other our beautiful plant-based meals to keep each other motivated! Don’t have Facebook? No problem! Email me and I will post pictures and comments for you.
Is there any reason I should not join the cleanse?
You should not participate in this cleanse if you have any of the following health conditions and/or diseases:
- Pregnant or lactating woman

- Hepatitis or compromised liver function
- Obstruction of bowels or if constipated (less then 1 bowel movement per day)

How will I feel during the cleanse?
There are some common side effects of cleansing. Typically these reactions arise in the first 3 days and should subside after the 5th day: fatigue, headache, aches and pains, nausea, abdominal discomfort, skin blemishes, emotional duress and symptoms of cold and flu. These reactions are called healing crises, which are caused by temporarily increased levels of toxins in the body due to elimination and cleansing. The reminder of the cleanse should bring increased energy, vitality, better mood, clear thinking and many more positive outcomes!
